What are the outcomes of Counselling Therapy?

Through Counselling Therapy, individuals will learn to:

  • Experience self-empowerment and freedom despite unfavourable circumstances. Internal change is possible even if things around us don’t change. The person who we have the most control over is ourselves.

  • Exercise the power of choice which is essential to grow.

  • Understand your situation and the reactions of those around you. What we see may not always be what is. Gaining clarity in your situation can help improve relationships with significant others.

  • Choose helpful methods to cope. All coping in situations is an attempt to meet healthy needs, but not all may be helpful. Gain wisdom in your choices.

  • Learn to identify your needs. Once we can accurately identify our needs, we can choose helpful ways to meet those needs, which can be very freeing.

  • Learn to help others understand your needs. We are not alone, but others cannot read our minds or know what is happening with us internally, so we need to express what we need and share what we’re experiencing to build networks of support around us.

Ready to begin anew?

We know that Counselling Therapy may not provide an instant miracle cure, but the process can help you in making new decisions every day to overcome your situation and find greater freedom in life.

Our therapists use evidence-based therapy approaches including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Couple and Family Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Reality Choice Therapy (RT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

The fee for Counselling Therapy is about $100 per hour and each session is typically between 1 to 1.5 hours. There are interim subsidies for families facing financial difficulties. All subsidies are subject to proof of income and management approval.
